Amy Elliot: My Review of Camp Thailand
Camp Thailand was one of the best experiences I have had so far. I have travelled quite a lot before, to a few countries in South East Asia, but i have always had a fascination with Thailand. When I saw Camp Thailand advertised, with the teaching and elephants, i couldn’t resist. Camp Thailand seemed so amazing. I got such an incredible elephant selfie and the teaching was literally heart warming. The kids were so happy. I did get emotional on my last day saying goodbye to them!
I decided to go to Camp D, in Bangkok. Bangkok is such an amazing city with loads to do. We had some great nights out on Khao San road and the teaching was great. We visited a local orphanage which was so rewarding. My highlight was the elephant village. We were able to get so hands on with the elephants. We washed, walked and fed them and even got to go in a mud bath. Deffo worth ruining my hair!
On the last weekend Camp Thailand took us on a trip to the secret garden. We got to stay over on this floating village on the lake. It had a water park right in the middle! It was so incredible!
At the end of my placement i then joined onto the Island Hopping Tour. It was literally amazing. We went to Phuket, Maya bay in Koh Phi Phi and Riley Beach. I have never seen beaches so nice or water so clear.
Camp Thailand was the best thing I could have done with my summer. I will be returning to Camp Thailand’s Camp C location in 2017 and I am counting down the days!
